Located in a 100+ year old industrial silk mill in Union City, NJ, The Clay Stood is a contemporary ceramic studio for clay makers of all levels. Our studio is thoughtfully equipped with plenty of tools and equipment for creativity, learning, and artistic growth.

ISA (Co-FOUNDER/INSTRUCTOR/STUDIO Tech)
Isa has been slinging clay for 10+ years. As a self taught ceramicist, she taught for a handful of studios before opening up The Clay Stood, and loves seeing new students and members tapping into their creative sides.
When she's not throwing functional work, she enjoys hikes in the woods with her dog, Luna, baking sourdough bread, some light woodworking, and rock-climbing.
Her favorite thing to throw: mugs
CHRIS (Co-Founder/diy dude/DOG DAD)
Chris actually hates the way clay feels on his hands. He's more of a woodworker, and prefers using his table saw to throwing clay. That being said, he is the guy behind the scenes - he has fixed many a sink problem, installed the big beautiful windows in our studio, and does our book keeping.
When he's not taking care of our studio finances and renovations, he's tending to his ever growing vegetable garden, unlocking new woodworking skills, and perfecting his cappuccino art.
His favorite veggies to grow: tomatoes + zucchinis
