Class Policy

NEW STUDENT,

Welcome to the Clay Stood - We’re so glad you chose our studio to be your new creative hub - we can’t wait to see what you make. Before you begin your course with us, we have some information to fill you in on.

Course Info

Students will have 24/7 access to the studio via a designated code for the duration of the class - this means plenty of time to practice! Access begins after the second class. Please note, the studio is only available to those signed up for the course - friends/family are not permitted in the studio.

Clean Up Procedures

We treat our studio like a National Forest, which means, leave no trace behind! Please ensure you clean your workspace(s) thoroughly - that means sponging down all surfaces of your wheel, mopping around work areas, cleaning and storing all tools in the correct place, and putting away your work on your student shelf. We also request that you clean the sink trap after use - clay deposits left behind clog our sinks and we'd like to keep communal elements working!

Shelf Space

Each new student is allotted a 16” x 2’ shelf to store their work. Clay is stored under the community work tables - All bags of clay must be labeled with your name and class date.

Firing and Work Pick-Up

Students receive 5 free firings in the course!

Extra work made is 6¢ cubic inch. Students will be required to log their work for dimensions to determine pricing prior to glaze firing.

All work must be labeled with a maker's mark or initials. This ensures work doesn't get misplaced.

Bisque or glaze fired work left after more than a month on the shelves will be discarded - we unfortunately don’t have the shelf capacity to store old work!

Outside Material

No outside clay or glazes allowed during a student's first course with The Clay Stood. After completion of 1 course (6 wheel throwing or hand-building), students may be allowed to bring in outside clay and glazes, pending approval.
